I've added a new poll, this time asking what you'd like to see from Askari Miniatures.
The whole point of this company, as I see it, is to produce quality 28mm figures that the customer wants. Something that is both useful and that you probably can't get elsewhere--or if you can, it's in the wrong scale or done so badly you wouldn't waste your time and money on it.
To date we've carved out a niche in Colonial adventures from the beginning of the heyday of the Foreign Legion in the 1870s through to the beginning of World War II. The Italian line, which focuses on the Ethiopian campaign of 1936, fits right in there as does the Russian campaigns in Turkestan (starting in 1875) and the Balkans (1877-78). Our newest Egyptian figures are somewhat timeless but reflect the age of digging in the Valley of the Kings in the 1920s and 30s.
I have some plans and ideas for each of these eras but every once in a while I ask for input from the gaming public. Like you, I have limited time and resources and want to hear what you would like most to see. The options include more of the same as well as some potential new directions.
So have at itl If you want to explain something, please use the Contact feature to shoot me an email.

Just for "grins," a pre-production photo of a new British WWI-era downed airman:
He's holding his pistol (or maybe a flare gun), ready to fire it to gain attention and possibly a rescue. Of course, he could also be warning off the approaching Huns. Dressed in leather flying coat and boots, there's really nothing to say he's not any airman of the open-cockpit period.
I also thought I might call him "Archie" after the stuff that may have brought him down. After soome suggestions, I've decided to name him Archibald "Giggles" Lansdowne, later Sir Archie. Of course, when you buy him, he's anyone you want him to be.
He will be one of the limited edition Personality figures.

Askari Miniatures goes pulp! We've just put our first sets of Egyptians into production! Shown above is EG-1, digging crew. We are also releasing a set of merchants (EG-2) and a man with a donkey (EG-3) for hauling away all that dirt. Future releases will include farmers and fishermen.
Whether your Foreign Legionnarres have marched across the desert in search of treasure, your archeologists are digging for tombs of the pharaohs, or whatever else your scenario might be, these workers are indispensable. Although they're called Egyptians, their dress is generic enough that they could be used to represent any desert people.
For an archeologist, see the personalities in FRP-1 or Illinois Dan ; for guarding the dig site I've made a small set of four (EG-5) from the Moroccan Recruits pack. Of course, if you already have the recruits, just use some of them.
Be careful of desert raiders--our Tuareg might show up at any time.
