Occasionally I have time to update a few of the older photos on the site.
Believe it or not, I don't have time to paint, much less photograph all of the figures in the catalog. What time I have I use documenting the newer items in the catalog, so it is a rare treat for me to be able to replace some of the older photos.
In addition to replacing bad photography, I can also show some of the alternative paint jobs for many of the figures. Nothing like a figure with multiple uses, as far as I'm concerned. At left is a French Colonial officer from the FR-17 set painted as both a standard Marine Officer and as one in a khaki coat. The latter comes from descriptions of the French on their expedition to Chad. The belting could be brown or black as could the boots. Helmet covers could be a light khaki or white.
This weekend I was able to update quite a few products, including the Senegalese, the new German Askari Infantry, and others.

In what has become the US Post Office's annual January surprise, rates have again gone up.
They don't announce very well in advance so I usually find out in January when somebody orders something and I see the rates have increased. This time there was a pretty significant increase in the international flat rate small box, so I've had to raise my mailing rate by $4.
The nice thing about that rate is that they include not only the "videocassette" size box in the rate but also a slightly larger size. This means that virtually all my overseas shipments use the small flat rate box which would otherwise cost $36. Anything over that size--even a medium flat rate box--will cost upwards of $40 so it is still a good deal. |

When you go to the webstore, you'll notice some slight changes: that's because I've rebuilt it with a different, but similar, shopping cart software. Everything that was there before is still there, including your customer information and order history. I made it to look almost the same but there are some new features for you:
- More secure
- Ability to add multiple items to your cart at one time instead of one-by-one
- More information displayed about each product
- More ways to search the site for what you're looking for
New things I can do with this site include:
- Offer gift certificates
- Set up specials, discounts, and group discounts
- Make downloading products easier
The site is fully functional but I have not yet implemented some of the newer features. Your comments about the new site are welcome--and even encouraged! |

We are all migrated to the new platform now. Look different? It shouldn't: it is the same Askari webstore you're used to. Quite frankly, I have limited time right now and I'm working on a couple of figure projects for next year so any website dazzle will have to wait.
This is actually the fourth time I've had to totally rebuild the web store because of hardware or software updates.
If you tried to log in and order in the last week you will have found out that you couldn't. Now that the move it complete, the site is fully functional. Enjoy! |

I'll have to admit to being a bit lazy: the last poll has been up for almost two years. But in my (weak) defense I must add that every time I thought about taking it down, I noticed that someone had just voted.
Recently I've been batting some ideas around with my sculptors and friends and wanted to renew the poll. The top vote getters in the old poll were Russians, Pulp, and German Colonials. Some of each are going to be released in the coming months and it's time to look forward.
What I've done in this poll is to expand the idea of Askari adventures and Colonials to Colonial Adventures in North America. Before the European empires had Africa or Asia in their sights, North America was the place to be and the conflicts between England (as she then was), France and Spain shaped the 18th century history of the continent and eventually led to the birth of a new nation.
Let me know what you think. Avast, ye swabs: be it pirates, voyageurs, trappers or militia, let your voice be heard!
