Senegalese Tirailleurs
This 19th century print inspired several of our Senegalese. Note that the pants come in a white campaign version as well. |
 |
Zouaves
The zouave uniform changed very little from it's inception until World War I. The print at the left shows zouaves from the Crimean War: those of 1880 differed only in having white gaiters. |

Zouaves and an Algerian Tirailleur in 1870. Note the cuirassiers and infantry in the background. Our zouaves without turban, firing (FR-3) can be used for both types. |

Zouaves at firing practice, 1896. Note the white fatigue uniform: white trousers could be worn in the field as well. |

Algerian Tirailleurs
The tirailleurs had a uniform in the zouave style but in a light blue color. Like the zouaves, they also had white campaign trousers and sometimes wore their fez without the turban, as in the 1870 print above. |
